dc.description | The present clinical case is of a 49-year-old male patient, who attended a nutritional consultation for presenting a malignant colon tumor and was overweight. Colon cancer is the most frequent neoplasm in Western countries, since it is the second most frequent in both men, after lung cancer, and in women, after breast cancer. Its incidence is 35-50 cases / 100,000 inhabitants. In addition, it is the second most common cause of death from cancer. According to the latest official figures on the website of the Society for the Fight Against Cancer (Solca), approximately 1,200 new cases of colon cancer occur each year in Ecuador. 52% of people survive. One of the best things you can do after cancer treatment is to adopt healthy eating habits. dc.description.abstract | El presente caso clínico es de un paciente masculino de 49 años de edad, que acude a consulta nutricional por presentar un tumor maligno de colon y sobrepeso. El cáncer de colon es la neoplasia más frecuente en los países occidentales, dado que es la segunda en frecuencia tanto en varones, por detrás del cáncer de pulmón, como en mujeres, tras el cáncer de mama. Su incidencia es de 35-50 casos/100.000 habitantes. Además, constituye la segunda causa más frecuente de muerte por cáncer. Según las últimas cifras oficiales en el sitio web de la Sociedad de Lucha contra el Cáncer (Solca), aproximadamente se dan 1.200 nuevos casos de cáncer de colon cada año en Ecuador. El 52% de personas sobreviven. Una de las mejores cosas que puede hacer después del tratamiento del cáncer consiste en adoptar hábitos saludables de alimentación.
