dc.descriptionWi-Fi connectivity is based on radio waves between the access points and the wireless device that has requested the downloading of files, emails, Internet browsing, among others. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the use of the internet has become a vitally important service for the development of academic activities in educational institutions, however, the quality of the service directly impacts its success or failure. At the Technical University of Babahoyo, large investments have always been made with respect to internet service, currently they have signed a contract with the company In.Planet SA, the Faculty of Administration, Finance and Information Technology receives approximately 300megas to the free PortiUTB network . For the present case study, an inventory of the connected network devices was carried out and the analysis of the signal strengths on each floor of the building, the Wifiman mobile app was used and it was possible to find different levels of Wi-Fi network coverage. After conducting the study, it is suggested to install more internet access points, especially on the upper floor to guarantee internet service for students and teachers.es_ES

dc.description.abstractLa conectividad del wifi se basa en ondas de radio entre los puntos de acceso y el dispositivo inalámbrico que ha solicitado la descarga de archivos, correos, navegación por internet, entre otras. Debido a la pandemia del COVID 19 el uso del internet se ha convertido en un servicio de vital importancia para el desenvolvimiento de las actividades académicas en las instituciones de educación, sin embargo, la calidad del servicio impacta directamente en el éxito o fracaso del mismo. En la Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo siempre se han realizado grandes inversiones con respecto al servicio de internet, en la actualidad tienen firmado contrato con la empresa In. Planet S.A., a la Facultad de Administración Finanzas e Informática le llegan aproximadamente 300megas a la red gratuita PortiUTB. Para el presente estudio de caso se realizó un inventario de los dispositivos de red conectados y el análisis de las intensidades de señal en cada piso del edificio, se usó la app móvil Wifiman y se pudo encontrar diferentes niveles de cobertura de red wifi. Después de realizar el estudio, se sugiere instalar más puntos de acceso de internet, sobre todo en la planta alta para garantizar el servicio de internet para los estudiantes y docentes.es_ES
