Nematodes are a major threat to banana production both locally and globally, their effects on the crop could be devastating to much of the production under ideal conditions. Generally, chemical methods are used to control this problem, however, with research in organic agriculture, alternatives with low environmental impact become evident. The objective of this document is to analyze the importance of the use of diatoms for the control of Radopholus similis and Meloidogyne spp in banana cultivation. For this, an investigative analysis was carried out in the field of the use of this organic option such as diatomaceous earth, taking as a novelty that the studies focused on the control of nematodes with diatoms are limited and notoriously restrict evidence that supports its effectiveness in the crop. banana infected with these nematodes. As results, it was possible to show that diatoms act by contact against pests causing their dehydration, but it is also a high fertilizer due to the content of nutrients and minerals that help the plant through fertilized soil. For this reason, it is evident that the use of diatomaceous earth is a viable alternative in the control of pests such as nematodes, since their specialty is the attack on the roots of plantations and diatoms would be an excellent help both as fertilizer and to control these pests in banana cultivation.es_ES
