dc.descriptionMoniliasis is one of the most important fungal diseases in cocoa cultivation because it affects the pods with high severity, and is one of the limiting factors of productivity. The fungus Moniliophthora roreri is the causal pathogen of this disease. For the control of moniliasis there are several management strategies such as: cultural control, biological control and chemical control, the latter being the most widely used in the country despite the high risk to the environment. In the present research work, the objectives were: To describe the production and use of the fungus Trichoderma harzianum in the control of moniliasis (Moniliophthora roreri) in cocoa pods; to explain the production of this kind of fungus, and to specify its use as a natural controller of the precursor fungus of the moniliasis disease (M. roreri) in cocoa pods. Regarding the methodology and techniques used, these were of exploratory and explanatory type; exploratory because it was centered on already existing information and technical documents, from where all the information was compiled and then classified, tabulated, paraphrased and explained in relation to the proposed objectives; the methodology is also explanatory, because it details the relationship that exists between the causal agent of the Moniliasis disease of cocoa (Moniliophthora roreri) and its organic antagonistic agent Trichoderma harzianum. The conclusions indicate that the use of T. harzianum, an antagonistic organism of Moniliophthora roreri, contributes to the health, yield and safety of the cocoa crop, as well as reducing the unfavorable environmental impact caused by the frequent use of chemical products for pest control. The use of the fungus T. harzianum for the management of the moniliasis disease is an alternative to achieve increases in yields, quality and resilience of the crop; consequently, the production and use of T. harzianum in cocoa plantations in the country is recommended.es_ES

dc.description.abstractLa moniliasis es una de las enfermedades fungosas más importantes en el cultivo de cacao pues afecta a las mazorcas con alta severidad, y es uno de los factores limitantes de la productividad. El hongo Moniliophthora roreri es el agente patógeno causal de esta enfermedad. Para el control de moniliasis existen varias estrategias de manejo tales como: control cultural, control biológico y control químico, siendo este último el más utilizado en el país a pesar del alto riesgo para el medio ambiente. En el presente trabajo de investigación, los objetivos plateados fueron: Describir la producción y uso del hongo Trichoderma harzianum en el control de moniliasis (Moniliophthora roreri) en mazorcas de cacao; explicar la producción de esta clase de hongo, y especificar su utilización como controlador natural del hongo precursor de la enfermedad moniliasis (M. roreri) en mazorcas de cacao. Respecto de la metodología y técnicas utilizadas, estas fueron de tipo exploratorio y explicativo; exploratoria porque se centró en información y documentos técnicos ya existentes, de donde se recopiló toda la información que luego fue clasificada, tabulada, parafraseada y explicada en relación con los objetivos propuestos; la metodología también es explicativa, porque detalla la relación que existe entre el agente causal de la enfermedad Moniliasis del cacao (Moniliophthora roreri) y su agente antagónico orgánico Trichoderma harzianum. Las conclusiones nos indican que la utilización de T. harzianum, organismo antagónico de Moniliophthora roreri contribuye a favorecer la sanidad, el rendimiento y la inocuidad del cultivo de cacao, así como también disminuir el impacto ambiental desfavorable causado por el uso frecuente de productos químicos para el control de plagas. La utilización del hongo T. harzianum para el manejo de la enfermedad moniliasis es una alternativa para lograr aumentos en los rendimientos, calidad y resiliencia del cultivo; en consecuencia, se recomienda la producción y utilización de T. harzianum en las plantaciones de cacao del país.es_ES
