dc.description | The clinical case deals with a 77-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus and diabetic ketoacidosis who attended a nutritional consultation by medical referral, where he reported a family history and indicated symptoms such as fatigue, dyspnea, dry cough, increased thirst, polyuria and weight loss. Therefore, the main objective of the work is to improve the health status of the adult child through a nutritional intervention plan. This purpose was achieved by carrying out the nutritional care process that consists of anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary assessment through a 24-hour reminder, resulting in a normal BMI and weight, elevated glucose 361.3 mg/dL, high triglycerides. 158 mg/Dl and high creatinine 4.19 mg/dl. While the clinical/physical assessment showed that almost everything is normal, except blood pressure and the aforementioned symptoms. And in dietetics it was determined that the elderly do not know how to have a correct diet in their daily lives, because they have a high consumption of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Based on the results, a nutritional intervention plan was designed according to the medical and nutritional needs of the patient, which consists of a diet of 1600 kcal/day divided into 4 meals a day, and consisting of 60 grams of protein, 44 .44 grams of fat and 240 grams of carbohydrate, in order to improve altered biochemical values and quality of life. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
