dc.description	The present research took place in canton Cayambe, province of Pichincha. Cattleya orchids were treated with substrates made from organic matter. The treatments studied were the following: arable land, pumice, worm humus; arable land, pumice and sawdust; arable land, black land, pumice, rice husk; arable land, pumice and peat. Arable land was used as a witness. The complete randomly Block Design (BCA for its initials in Spanish) was applied with five treatments and three repetitions. The Tukey test was also applied at 5% for the comparison of the treatment measurements. The variables studied were the following: percentage of capture, the plant height, days before blooming, flower diameter, length of the flower bud, length of the flower stem, number of flowers by plant and the output of stems per hectare.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	El presente trabajo de investigación se realizó en el cantón Cayambe, provincia Pichincha, utilizando orquídeas cattleya con sustratos a base de materia orgánica. Los tratamientos estudiados fueron tierra agrícola, piedra pómez y humus de lombriz; tierra agrícola, piedra pómez y aserrín; tierra agrícola, tierra negra, piedra pómez, cascarilla de arroz; tierra agrícola, piedra pómez y turba; tierra agrícola como testigo. Se aplicó el Diseño Bloques Completamente al Azar (BCA) con cinco tratamientos y tres repeticiones, se empleó la prueba de Tukey al 5 % para la comparación de las medidas de los tratamientos. Las variables evaluadas fueron porcentaje de prendimiento, altura de planta, días a la floración, diámetro de la flor, longitud del botón floral, longitud de tallo floral, número de flores por planta y rendimiento tallos/ha.	es_ES
